It stands on the shore of Velické Tarn in the Velická Valley, directly below Gerlachovský Peak, and is the highest-situated mountain hotel in Slovakia. After a complete reconstruction in 2009–2010 it now offers wellness facilities year-round.

Other variants: from Hrebienok via the junction below Slavkovský štít (🔴 red), or from Popradské pleso via Sedlo pod Ostrvou saddle and the junction below Suchý vrch (🔴 red). |
